CHESHIRE police are investigating an incident in the Wincham Park tunnel at half-time on Saturday, while the UniBond League and the FA will looked at the extraordinary behaviour of Bradford Park Avenue.

Witton's visitors refused to come out for the second half and only did so after being told by the League they faced a massive fine if they failed to fulfil the fixture.

The players' threatened strike was in response to an incident in the tunnel between Witton midfielder Anton Lally and Bradford's Greg Challender.

Bradford insisted they would not play the second half unless Lally was substituted. After Witton boss Gary Finley refused the Yorkshire side got changed and loaded their equipment on to the bus.

It was at that point League secretary Duncan Bayley stepped in and Bradford emerged from their dressing room. The second half was even tempered though ironically Witton did have two men sent off - Brian Pritchard for a professional foul and Tom Spearritt for a second bookable offence.

Lally was suspended by Witton and has since asked for his release.

Albion chairman Mike Worthington said: 'The police were called and are investigating so, legally, we cannot say anything.'

The FA and League will question why the match referee allowed Bradford 40 minutes to come out for the second half.
