CHESTER'S youth team gained a creditable 0-0 draw with Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

Jim Hackett's men followed up their opening-day victory over Accrington with a solid display against the Latics at Broughton.

Centre-back Shaun Kelly and striker Paul McManus impressed for City.

Youth team boss Hackett said: 'It's a game we probably should have won. We more than matched Wigan and looked fitter and stronger than them.'

Next up for City is a home meeting with Rochdale in the Puma Youth Alliance a week tomorrow.
