POCKETS grabbed the initiative in the Mid Cheshire Sunday League's most exciting competition - for the spare promotion spot in Division One.

Saxons show no signs of wavering at the top, but below them five teams are jostling for second place with fourth from bottom Middlewich Town Supporters and Pockets both winning.

Stuart Tulloch hit four of Middlewich's six goals at Coachman, whereas Pockets scored four at second-placed Cuddington. Townsend - who lost to Saxons - and Plough are the other contenders.

St Joseph's maintained their 100% record in the Premier Division with five goals and five goalscorers against Wheatsheaf, while both Cranford and Thatched Tavern lost further ground.

Stanley Arms beat Holmes Chapel in Division Two to take over the lead from them.
