GARETH Owen is urging his rejuvenated Airbus UK team to attack from the off when struggling Porthmadog visit the Airfield tomorrow (2.30pm).

Having moved clear of the relegation places on the back of a three-match unbeaten run, the Broughton outfit are setting their sights on moving into the top half of the table.

To do that player-manager Owen knows they will have to turn draws into wins.

And that is why he wants them to take the game to a Porthmadog side who sit two places below them in 13th, and have not won in the league since the opening weekend.

Owen - who, with the exception of long-term casualties Steve Hopkins and Andy Thomas, has a full-strength squad to choose from tomorrow - said: 'We've been picking up points and it's very pleasing. A big reason for that is we're fairly solid. To be fair to the back four and our goalkeeper Adam McGee, they have been all season. It's just that earlier on we weren't defending as well as a team. But everything seems to have clicked into place.

'What we haven't done much this season is take the game to teams, but we now have the belief to do that having got some points on the board.

'That's not to say we have to go out there gung-ho, because you always have to plan for the counter attack. But since we've brought Steve Gunby into the side, he's used his experience to act as the defensive-minded midfielder that's allowed me to push on and help the players who are going to get us goals.'

To the delight of Owen, he now has a number of men who can do just that.

One of them, winger James Hussaney (pictured), scored the Wingmakers' equaliser in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Aberystwyth.

Yet one player who Owen will not be able to count on for goals is leading scorer Nathan Mapletoft.

The 21-year-old has impressed since making the step up from St Werburgh's in the West Cheshire League, netting three times in seven league outings. However, his commitments with the Army means he is unlikely to play again this season.

Owen said: 'He's been absolutely superb for us and it's been a pleasure to manage him.'

Meanwhile, midfielder Alan Richardson has returned to St Werburgh's.
