ON-LOAN Chester City defender George Elokobi has returned to Colchester United.

City had been trying to extend the former Cameroon youth international's loan spell, but apparently Colchester have a mini-injury crisis and the player has returned to Layer Road.

Elokobi, who was sent off in Chester's match at Shrewsbury Town last Saturday, made five appearances for City during his period with the club.

City chairman Stephen Vaughan said last night: "I would like to thank George for his efforts while he was with us, and we wish him well for his future."

Meanwhile, Chester's players had a day off yesterday, before preparing for next Saturday's home game against in-form Southend United.

Defender Phil Bolland, who sustained an ankle injury during the recent game against Yeovil Town, and has consequently missed the matches against Grimsby Town and Shrewsbury Town, is expected to join in some light training.

* STRIKER Derek Asamoah has been transfer-listed by Mansfield following an incident before the goalless draw with Rushden on Saturday.

"He was in breach of club discipline and he has been transfer-listed and is available to leave the club on a free," confirmed a Mansfield spokesman.
