CONFIDENCE surrounds the Tarporley Victoria team following a successful preseason and a glut of quality players returning to the squad.

After travelling round Australia for the majority of last season, Ed Pattinson, James Cooke, Alex Rowntree and Alley Taylor have all returned to training along with new boys Ed Briscoe and Rob Edge.

Manager Steve Lloyd said: “It’s like getting four new signings. The fact we finished sixth without them last season is amazing. We want to break into the top four this term.”

With three friendlies played and one to go, Vics start their season on August 13 against Crewe.

And although last year provides them with a solid base to improve from, missing out on promotion on the last day of the season was a sore point.

Lloyd added: “Generally the season went well. We’re a team that strives for progression each season. But we were quite disappointed in the end so it gives us something to build on next season. The squad is a lot stronger than it was last year.”
