BRENDAN RODGERS won his first league game in charge at Anfield after a Luis Suarez-inspired Liverpool FC brushed aside Norwich City.

After destroying the Canaries in the corresponding fixture last season with a memorable hat-trick, Suarez repeated the feat this afternoon, as the Reds ensured Rodgers opened his Premier League account in style.

At the sixth attempt, Liverpool secured three points as a first-half double from their Uruguayan frontman was followed up by a third goal in two games from the on-loan Nuri Sahin;  another from  Suarez after the break and then one from Steven Gerrard.

Steve Morison ended Liverpool’s hopes of a first clean sheet in the league when he scored just past the hour mark before Grant Holt grabbed further consolation three minutes from time, but the goals could not detract from the away side’s superiority at Carrow Road today.

From the second minute, when Suarez showed strength and then precision to fire Liverpool ahead, Rodgers men were in control of the game.

Suarez doubled the lead seven minutes before half-time when nicking the ball off Michael Turner on the edge of the area before curling the ball beyond John Ruddy with the outside of his boot.

Just seconds earlier, Suarez had missed terribly when clean through on goal, but amends in stylish fashion.

Suarez provided the assist for Liverpool’s third goal just after the break when Sahin tapped in from close range before the Uruguayan made it six goals in two games against Norwich with a curling effort from outside the box.

Sandwiched in between the Reds’ fourth and fifth goals came Morison’s strike but Gerrard soon re-established their advantage when converting Raheem Sterling’s pass, via the aid of a deflection.

Holt ultimately had the final say with a goal three minutes from time but it was only consolation for the home fans.

Suarez rightly took the plaudits for this wonderful three goals but the afternoon also represented a momentous day in the young careers of Suso and Andre Wisdom who both earned first ever Premier League starts.
