VAUXHALL Motors aim to reach the FA Cup first round proper for only the third time in their history tomorrow.

Owen Brown's side go to fellow Conference North rivals Hednesford Town for a fourth qualifying-round tie knowing victory would put them in contention for a money-spinning clash against Football League opposition when the draw is made tomorrow.

The Motors reached the first round last year when they were eliminated at Bury, and they famously knocked out QPR en route to the second round in 2002.

The Motormen, however, have suffered a disappointing week, with a 3-0 loss at Stafford Rangers on Tuesday following a 2-1 reverse at Harrogate Town.

They paid the price for a disappointing start in midweek, going 3-0 down inside 27 minutes.

At Harrogate, the Wirral visitors were given a headstart by an own goal but were unable to build on that.

It left manager Brown frustrated. He said: 'We played well and I am disappointed with the result as we made a number of chances but failed to finish them off.

'We'd just won three on the bounce so it is really frustrating to lose after dominating like that. It's probably the best we have played in weeks and yet we have lost.'
