VAUXHALL Motors Reserves extended their lead at the top of WCL Division One with a 2-1 win at Runcorn Town.

The Motormen took advantage of Pyke Cup fixtures to secure a 2-1 winandafour-point leadatthetop of the table, thanks to strikes from Broadhurst and Killen.

In Division Three, strikes from Richie White, John Coombes and Mark Roberts contributed to a 3-0 win for Ellesmere Port Reserves against Manor Athletic.

Ian Armstrong and Ian Forster plundered the goals for Grange Athletic in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Bronze Social.

Elsewhere, Capenhurst Villa's second string pulled off the result of the day by holding runaway leaders West Kirby Reserves to a 1-1 draw. A Dave Jackson strike was good enough to cancel out an opener from West Kirby's Ian Loughran.

Division One rivals Ellesmere Port and Castrol Social will replay following their nail-biting 0-0 stalemate after extra time in the Pyke Cup first round, while there were two outstanding West Cheshire Bowl first-round ties.

Capenhurst Villa saw off the challenge from Ashville Reserves as a brace from James Fletcher and one from Paul O'Donovan ensured a 3-1 win.

But it was an early exit for Willaston who lost 2-0 at home to against Division Two leaders Maghull Reserves.

In the Youth Division, Castrol Social ended the 100% start of leaders Merseyside Police with a 2-2 draw.

Mark Lowe and Steve McDonnagh were on the scoresheet for the Oilmen.

This weekend sees Vauxhall Motors Reserves travel to Merseyside Police for what is certain to be a closely contested Pyke Cup first-round tie.

Improving Castrol Social welcome second-place Poulton Vics, while Ellesmere Port have an equally dif-

ficult mission when they play host to Cammell Laird Res.

Match of the day in Division Two brings together second-place Capenhurst Villa and leaders Maghull Reserves, with Capenhurst needing to take at least a point to sustain their promotion challenge.
