CARL Macauley says the season has reached make-or-break time for Vauxhall Motors as they prepare for four vital home games on the bounce.
A winning start to the season had given supporters hopes of reaching the play-offs but, after failing to win in six league outings, Motors have slipped to 14th in Conference North.
Boss Macauley is now looking to his players to lift the club away from danger - before Vauxhall get dragged into a relegation dogfight.
'It could be make-or-break time for our season,' he said.
'We have got to get something from the next four games at home. Our form has not been the best but it starts on Saturday against Moor Green.
'There are no easy games in this league but it's vital that we get the results that will push us up the league and away from the teams below us.
'If you put a run together then the clubs below you lose confidence and if we can do that over the next four games then we'll soon climb the table and away from danger.'
The Motormen's latest blip came at Alfreton on Saturday when Macauley's men missed several goal-scoring opportunities and fell to a 2-0 defeat.
Macauley was angered by his side's second-half display and is hoping to freshen up the squad with some new signings.
He said: 'I have been trying to bring in new faces over the past two months but you can't just go out and get anyone. They have to be the right player for the club.
'People have got places to play for so it's up to them to get the points on the board for us and avoid any more slips.'
Tomorrow, Motors start their run of four league fixtures at Rivacre Park with the visit of fifth-placed Moor Green. The Birmingham outfit will provide stiff opposition after they hit five past Vauxhall in the away fixture in December.
Third-placed Kettering Town arrive the following Saturday but Motors will surely target the visits of Barrow (Tuesday, March 6) and Scarborough (March 17) for maximum points.
Striker Lee Furlong will be suspended for the first three of these games following his harsh dismissal at Farsley Celtic. Otherwise, Macauley has a full-strength squad to choose from.
