HOLDERS Vauxhall Motors have booked their place in Round Two of the Pyke Cup.
The Motormen claimed a 2-1 victory at Merseyside Police thanks to a double from former Police player Chris Killen.
But Wirral FA Amateur Cup holders Willaston relinquished their grip on the trophy, after losing 2-0 to Ashville in Round Two.
In Division One Ellesmere Port battled hard for a share of the spoils against Cammell Laird Reserves. Darren Toal netted for Port in a gripping 1-1 draw, while neighbours, Castrol Social, suffered a 2-1 defeat at second-placed Poulton Victoria, despite a fine goal from Simon Thelwell.
The Division Two showdown between previously unbeaten leaders Maghull Reserves and nearest rivals Capenhurst Villa was settled 4-1 in Capenhurst's favour.
A James Fletcher brace and strikes from Paul O'Donovan and Ian Chapman gave Villa the win and ensured that they leapfrogged their opponents into top spot.
In Division Three Grange Athletic chalked up their fourth League win of the season after Mike Thelwell, Chris Jolley, Ian Armstrong and Joe Senior hit the target in a 4-1 defeat of MANWEB Reserves.
And Capenhurst Villa Reserves moved up into third place in the table, after relieving St Werburgh's of their un-beaten record. Phil Strapp and Lee Hammond scored in the 2-0 triumph.
But it was a bad day all round for Ellesmere Port's second string who crashed to a 5-1 defeat at Chester outfit MBNA despite a goal from John Coombes.
Castrol Social were second best in Saturday's Youth Division tussle with Maghull, who triumphed 4-0 courtesy of efforts from Tommy Radcliffe(2), Peter Riley and Craig Heats.
This weekend, Ellesmere Port will be looking to haul back current Division One leaders Vauxhall Motors Reserves at Whitby Road, while Rivals Castrol Social face a trip to Newton.
In Division Two, Capenhurst Villa could go three points clear at the expense of Heswall Reserves, while Willa-ston are well capable of taking all three points at Halton.
West Cheshire Shield semi-final places are also up for grabs, with Grange Athletic and Ellesmere Port Reserves hoping to progress against West Kirby Reserves and Manweb Reserves respectively.
