CASTROL TESUTI'S quest for the Cheshire FA Amateur Sunday Cup took a step closer to the prize after the Ellesmere Port & District Sunday League flag bearers overcame Runcorn side Union Tavern in Sunday's fifth round clash.

Efforts from Steve Morgan and Ian Parry clinched a decisive 2-0 result.

On the domestic scene, RJS Sir Robert put Phoenix reserves to the sword in a one-sided Warwick Cup semi-final.

Marc Evans had a field day with seven goals. Further efforts from Tony Black and Steve Craven making up the balance. In the other semi, it was Thomas Telford who secured their safe passage after Ray Whyard and Steve James scored to secure a 2-1 victory over SC Red Lion.

Vauxhalls went into overdrive in their Premier Division fixture with Phoenix. Four-goal Richie Martin taking the plaudits in a 10-0 triumph.

Billy Thompson and Glyn Jones scored two each with Jamie Fitzpatrick and Ian Martin also getting in on the act.

Kevin West scored for Dysett Rangers against FC Merebrook, but it wasn't enough, as doubles from Graeme Carvell and Louis Hough guided Merebrook to a 5-1 success.

On target for Gunners Enterprise in their tight 2-1 win against Woodlands, were Steve Jones and Paul Woodworth, veteran campaigner, Rory Blease answering for the losers.

Top scorers in Division One were Cat Carpet Craft who pulled the rug from under LPSC. The 8-1 score-line was confirmed by efforts from Trevor Roberts (4), Paul King, Lee Hallmark, Peter Ryder and Andy Playford.

A Tony Livens double failed to count, as The Bull lost out 3-2 at FC Sportsmans. Eric Fogg (2) and Mike Thelwell's contribution tipped the game in Sportsmans' favour while goals from Dave Ferguson (2), Ian Kelly (2) and Kevin Smith helped Parkside Rovers to a 5-0 drubbing of Kingkabs.

Ninety minutes failed to produce a goal between Old Wirral Hundred and Princes Rovers, but Sutton Villa were not so shot-shy, Gary Edwards and Kevin Thwaite scoring in the 3-1 win against Westminster.
