MIDDLEWICH moved into third place in the Mid Cheshire League, overtaking Rylands who, along with Linotype, present the triple challenge to Barnton for the Mid Cheshire League title.
'We were comfortable and played well. They were young and second from bottom but were a tidy side, so I was happy enough,' said Town boss Terry Murphy.
Matt Hitchen made his debut in midfield after signing from Knutsford, operating alongside Lee Murphy, and the muscular presence of both allowed more space for Ryan Broadhead to get forward.
Broadhead scored twice, the first just before the break with a volley following a left-wing move and, in the second half, making a timely arrival in the penalty area and finishing with another hard shot.
Murphy gave Middlewich the lead with a header from an Ian Stanton cross.
