AMBITIOUS Crewe FC are planning for the future after a positive meeting with the North West Counties League's ground grading committee.

Chairman Pat Slack said: 'We wanted to discuss improvements which would have to be made to the Cumberland Arena to meet the league's requirements should we be in a position to push for promotion.

'It was a very positive meeting and the committee members were impressed by the potential of the site. Yes, there is work to do but it is not prohibitive and we have already had an offer from a company who are willing to build us a covered standing area free of charge.

'We aim to make the Arena our base and are in discussions with the Victoria Community Centre to use all their facilities on a long-term basis.'
