MARTIN ATKINSON will referee Saturday's 216th Merseyside derby at Goodison.

It will be the second time the Yorkshire official has taken charge of a showdown between Liverpool and Everton.

Atkinson was the man in the middle when the Reds won 1-0 at Anfield back in February 2010.

A fiery contest saw Atkinson flash six yellow cards and two red cards. Liverpool defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos was sent off in the first half for his challenge on Marouane Fellani but Dirk Kuyt fired the Reds in front.

Everton were also reduced to 10 men late on when Steven Pienaar picked up a second booking.

Atkinson hasn't taken charge of a Blues match so far this season but he did referee Liverpool's 2-0 win at Arsenal last month.
