MALCOLM Thomson has left Chester City to return to Inverness Caledonian Thistle and rekindle his partnership with Craig Brewster.

Bobby Williamson’s assistant manager was previously assistant to Brewster during his first spell at the Caley Jags and ‘Malky’ has accepted the opportunity to return to the Scottish Premier League side.

Thomson, who arrived at the Deva Stadium with Williamson in May, reportedly reached his decision to leave the Deva with a degree of apprehension but felt he had to put his family commitments first.

Chester City have already identified a replacement for Thomson.

This week the club will speak to former Dumbarton manager Gerry McCabe.

McCabe is no stranger to Bobby Williamson as he was his assistant at Kilmarnock. McCabe has also coached at Hibs.
