LIVERPOOL midfielder Jonjo Shelvey will spend this week training with the full England squad ahead of Friday’s World Cup qualifier with San Marino at Wembley.

Shelvey is banned for the Under-21 European Championship play-off first leg against Serbia on Friday so Roy Hodgson has decided to promote him to the senior set-up.

The 20-year-old has been called up after Frank Lampard suffered a knee injury which threatens to keep him out of the San Marino game.

Shelvey will not remain with the senior squad for next week’s trip to Poland as he will be eligible for the under-21s’ second leg in Serbia.

The former Charlton man has enjoyed a fine start to the season with Liverpool and scored his third goal of the campaign in last week’s Europa League defeat to Udinese.

He has now completed his three-match domestic suspension following his red card against Manchester United.
