DANIEL AGGER is facing a month on the sidelines after it was confirmed the Liverpool defender broke a rib in Sunday’s 4-0 defeat at Tottenham.
The Danish international suffered the injury in the build up to Spurs’ first goal when he fell awkwardly.
Agger tried to battle on but was eventually forced off before the half hour mark as Sebastian Coates came on to make his debut.
Scans have revealed the extent of the damage and Agger is unlikely to play again until mid-October.
“Daniel has got a fractured rib so he’s struggling a bit,” said boss Kenny Dalglish.
Losing Agger is a major blow for the Reds as the centre-back has started the campaign in fine form.
It’s the latest in a long line of injury setbacks for the 26-year-old who has been restricted to 141 appearances in five and a half years at Anfield.
