LIVERPOOL transfer target Charlie Adam admits he’s desperate to stay in the Premier League – but the midfielder insists his fate lies in Blackpool’s hands.

The Reds had an £8million bid rejected for the 25-year-old during the January transfer window and Kenny Dalglish is set to make another approach this summer.

Adam, who suffered relegation with the Seasiders last weekend, has one year left on his contract but has made no secret of his desire to remain in the top flight.

The Scotland international was devastated when his proposed move to Liverpool fell through in January and Anfield remains his preferred destination.

“My future is that I want to play in the Premier League,” Adam said.

“I want to play at the top and hopefully the opportunity comes.

“At the end of the day, my future will get sorted one way or another. It’s not me who makes that decision.

“The club will make the decisions about what it wants to do. It isn’t down to Charlie Adam. I have got a year left on my contract so we will see what happens.

“The club have been fantastic with me and since I went there I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it.

“It’s important that, whatever happens, I will always remember my time at Blackpool.”

Adam enjoyed a hugely impressive first season in the Premier League as he netted 12 goals and was nominated for the PFA player of the year award.

Blackpool rejected offers from Liverpool, Aston Villa and Tottenham in January but following their relegation they will reluctantly do business.

However, manager Ian Holloway recently warned it will take a bumper bid – in excess of the £8million offered by the Reds in January - to convince them to sell the former Rangers midfielder.

“If people don’t pay us the right respect and don’t pay us the right amount of money, Charlie won’t be going anywhere,” he warned.

Adam will line up against the Republic of Ireland on Sunday before contemplating his future.

“The focus for me now is Sunday,” Adam added. “When Sunday is out of the way I’ll get a holiday and take things after that.”

Meanwhile, Newcastle have not given up hope of convincing Jose Enrique to stay at St James’ Park.

The Spanish left-back, who has attracted interest from Liverpool, will sit down for talks over a new deal next week.

Enrique has a year remaining on his current contract.
