STEWART DOWNING has been given the green light to seal his move to Liverpool after the Reds agreed a fee with Aston Villa for the England international winger.
Kenny Dalglish failed with a £15million approach for the 26-year-old last week with the Midlanders determined to hold out for their £20million asking price.
The Scot is currently in Kuala Lumpur with the team having flown straight out after Liverpool's 4-3 victory over Guangdong Sunray Cave in China.
Downing, who joined Aston Villa for £10million from Middlesbrough in 2009 has 27 England caps.
