THE LINNETS hope to consolidate their table-topping position when they entertain Darwen on Saturday.

Second-placed Winsford have three games in hand and Runcorn lead by just a point.

However, a win at Wincham Park against ninth-placed Darwen and another victory at Leek CSOB on Tuesday night could see Runcorn well on the way to the title.

Linnets boss Steve Carragher believes Runcorn have their destiny in their own hands.

He said: 'We have just got to keep going, not to worry about anybody else and just concentrate on ourselves now.'

The Linnets will be hoping for another strong performance from skipper Paul Scott who led the club to a 5-3 home win over New Mills a fortnight ago.

And Carragher is calling on his players to keep any sloppiness out of their play after conceding twice early on against New Mills.

He said: 'It is sloppiness more than anything. We have been working on a few things but it is just individuals not concentr ating.'
