LEON OSMAN is clinging to the hope that a Tottenham slip-up can resurrect Everton’s Europa League dream.

The Blues chances of over-taking the fifth-placed Londoners are slim, and would be completely over if Andre Villas-Boas’s men can get a point from their game in hand against Chelsea at Stamford bridge tonight.

But Osman is nevertheless praying that Everton’s point from the Merseyside derby on Sunday proves to be enough to keep them in contention until the weekend.

He said: “We've got to keep going and try to win our last two games and hope that's enough.

“It's going to take a disaster from one of the teams above us for us to get in there, but we can only hope that (the draw at Anfield) is a good point.”

Along with benefiting from a Tottenham collapse, Everton must also win their two remaining games against West Ham and Chelsea in order to move up the table and end their four year absence from continental competition.

And Osman believes the form of England defender Phil Jagielka, who was superb at Anfield, will be key to finishing the campaign with six more points.

While centre-back partner Sylvain Distin saw a goal controversially disallowed, the England man led by example at the back to silence Liverpool's attack.

“He was terrific,” added Osman.

“He made some fantastic blocks, especially in the first half.

“He defended really well and we defended really well as a team.”
