THE Crewe and District League has announced the 2007/08 campaign will kick-off on Saturday, September 8.

At the League's AGM, Tarporley Victoria Reserves and Sandbach United Eagles were accepted into Division

One, and the annual awards were given out.

A league spokesman said: 'There will be a Premier Division of nine clubs and Division One of eight clubs and it was decided to kick-off the new season on September 8.'

Winnington Reserves won the John Davies Trophy for Most Sporting Club; Matt Smith of Kidsgrove Carpets got the Harry Hough Trophy for Secretary of the Year;

Andy Jackson of Curshaws was named Premier Division Leading Scorer for the second year running with 16 goals; Ashley Clark's nine goals earned him the Division One Leading Scorer prize.

Meanwhile, Cheshire Rangers U15s (Jamie Baker 2, Kyle Pirrie, Rod McDonald) and SCYL Tigers (Kris Crawford, James Burden, Aaron Sharpes) warmed up for next month's Haarlem Cup, in Holland, with a friendly. Rangers won 4-3.
