CHESTER remain top of the Conference after a 1-1 draw at Aldershot.

The visitors showed their intentions in a bright start as Ian Brady was just off target with a shot in the opening minutes.

Tim Sills headed over for Aldershot minutes later, while Wayne Brown was called upon on a couple of occasions to make good first-half saves.

The impressive Darryn Stamp went on a dangerous run, but the slippery surface got the better of the Chester striker after goalkeeper Nikki Bull was left stranded outside of the area.

After an even first half, it was Chester who took the lead after 51 minutes. Stamp managed to bundle the ball home after a scramble in the box following a Ben Davies corner.

The Shots battled back to keep their unbeaten home record in tact, and just past the hour mark Jon Challinor found the equaliser.

Further chances fell to each side, the in-form keepers preventing goals at both ends.

Chester won three successive corners in the closing minutes, but the goal just would not come.
