KELSALL booked their place in round three of the Chester Senior Cup on Saturday after seeing off Frodsham United.

Frodsham’s John Dover had scored to ensure the scores were level at half-time, but Kelsall kicked up a gear in the second half and scored two more to win 3-1.

In round one of the Cayzer Shield, Blacon YC Vets cruised past Vicars Cross Dynamo Doves, winning 3-1. Craig Rowland and Paul Cunningham shared Blacon’s goals while Alex Barton registered for the Doves.

Elsewhere, Ashton Lions v Newton Reserves and Chester Nomads 3rds v Barrow Athletic fell victim to the weather.

In the League Cup Group B, Gary Ellams struck early to give Waggon and Horses a 1-0 win over Tarvin Athletic.

None of the league fixtures survived after a particularly wet week.

Helsby’s Olympic Trophies Division One clash with AFC Bebington and Barrow Athletic 2nds’ meeting with Runcorn Albion in DevaWebb Services Division Two were both postponed.
