THERE was no surprise in the Chester & District FA Cup Final as Section A leaders Lache Athletic walked away with the trophy.

Nathan Mapletoft, Andy Callaghan and Kev McGovern were on the mark as Lache saw off the threat of Section B side Corner Pin 3-1.

Dee Miller, second in Section A, took advantage of Lache’s league absence with a 4-1 defeat of Blacon S&SC.

Danny Andrews bagged a brace for Miller with singles being added by Timmy Foxon and Jamie McElwain.

In Section B’s basement battle, bottom side Bromfield had Paul Nelson on target in a 3-1 home defeat to second-bottom Bougton Hall.

Western Rangers earned promotion from Section C with a 5-0 win against high-flying rivals Piper.

James Thompson led the way with a double as Gareth Lee, Nick Henderson and Richard Deponio completed the scoring for glorious Rangers, who will step up to Section B next season.

Substitute Iain Bain rescued a rare point for second-bottom Carlton as they drew 1-1 at third-from-bottom Anchor, who went in front thanks to a Josh Kear goal.

In the game of the day, Tattenhall were emphatic 7-4 winners against Red Lion.
