LIVERPOOL Under-18s go into Saturday’s Premier Academy League clash with high-flying Barnsley at Kirkby on a high after a 2-1 victory over Leeds.

The young Reds returned to winning ways after the defeat to Derby courtesy of goals from Jordan Lussey and Adam Morgan.

“It was a good result for us and the boys did well,” said boss Mike Marsh.

“The winner came late but we were worth the three points.

“Adam missed two sitters before that but he still managed to come up with the winner for us in stoppage time.

“We’re expecting a tough game against Barnsley. They’ve played four, won four.

“A number of teams in the league are taking advantage of the fact that in the under-18s you are able to play three over-age players.

“It means we’re up against some senior pros and teams with a lot more experience than we’ve got.”

Saturday’s home game with Barnsley kicks-off at 11.30am at the Kirkby Academy. Jack Dunn is set to miss out with a knee injury but Swede Kristoffer Peterson is back in contention after returning to training.
