I WAS gutted to hear about Steven Gerrard suffering a setback in training.
It would have been great to have him back at West Brom and he could have made the difference in a game where we lacked creativity.
It’s a real worry and Liverpool have to be very careful with him.
He’s been playing week in week out since he was a teenager and there comes a point when wear and tear is bound to take its toll.
Hopefully he won’t be out for too long but there is no point rushing him back before the end of the season unless he’s 100%.
There’s little left for us to play for and the priority has to be giving him a proper rest. Give him April, May and June off so he’s ready to go in July.
Gerrard has plenty left in the locker and is pivotal to the club’s future.
But to get the best out of him we need him fully fit.
