FORMER Chester number two John Gannon has been appointed assistant manager to new Notts County boss Steve Thompson.

Ex-Sheffield United and Wimbledon midfielder Gannon was second-in-command to Keith Curle last season. But he was sacked, along with fellow assistant Dave Bell in February - the day after Chester's 5-0 hammering at Carlisle United.
