WITH no English teams left in the Champions League, the focus is now on who will qualify for next season’s competition.

I was in Munich on Wednesday to see Arsenal secure their best result of the season as they ended Bayern’s unbeaten run but it wasn’t enough.

It was a strange game because I didn’t think Arsenal actually played that well. Even when they made it 2-0 you never felt they were going to go through.

I just think they are fragile and I can’t see them getting enough points to finish in the top four. They have to go to Swansea this weekend and I couldn’t predict with any conviction that they will win that.

Beating Tottenham was a big win for Liverpool and it means there’s an outside chance of finishing in the top four. For that to happen we’re going to need two things to happen – Liverpool to put together a run of results they haven’t achieved for many years and either Tottenham or Chelsea to implode.

If you look at each game Liverpool have got left to play they’re all winnable. But it’s still a big ask as when was the last time we won eight or nine league games in a row?

We’re relying on other results and Chelsea are the key for me.

I can’t see Spurs dropping out of the top four. Although they lost, I was very impressed by them at Anfield last weekend.

But Chelsea is the interesting one. They have a tough schedule of fixtures and I wonder what Rafa Benitez’s priority is. Is he really concerned about top four considering he won’t be there next season or does he want to stick another trophy on his CV before he moves on?

Liverpool just have to take it game by game and try to maintain their recent consistency. We found a way to beat Spurs – pressuring them into mistakes and making the most of the chances which came our way.

Now we need to keep it going at Southampton tomorrow.

As expected they’re in a battle for survival and results have been up and down. Sacking Nigel Adkins was a crazy decision after the job he had done there and now Mauricio Pochettino is tasked with trying to keep them up.

If Southampton perform anywhere near the level they produced against Man City then it will be a tough game. But they will give you chances and I just feel with our firepower we’ll have too much quality for them.
