HOLMES Chapel Hurricanes Under-12s sealed the Mid Cheshire Division One championship with a resounding 5-1 win over Egerton on Sunday.

The Hurricanes took an early lead in this must-win game through top scorer O'Donoghue, but Egerton rallied strongly and equalised after a brilliant long-range strike rebounded off the Holmes Chapel cross bar and was swept home.

The setback seemed to galvanise the Holmes Chapel boys and shortly before half-time O'Donoghue notched his 20th league goal of the season to restore the lead.

In a tense first few minutes of the second half Holmes Chapel fought hard to maintain their lead, defending resolutely and tackling hard in midfield.

Holmes Chapel took a 3-1 lead through Dray. Knowing that the championship was virtually secure, the Hurricanes could relax and went on to finish the game with some of their best football of the season.

The fourth Holmes Chapel goal came as Dray rounded off a fine team move - and capped a fine individual performance - with a well deserved hat-trick.

The Hurricanes now have an unassailable lead of eight points at the top of the division after losing just one game all season.
