Warrington Town Res 3 Malpas 3
MALPAS fought back from 2-0 and 3-1 down to salvage a point at Warrington on Saturday.
The hosts led 2-0 at the interval, but Malpas upped the tempo in the second half and great work from Richard Sadler and Ricky Smith enabled Richard Desmond to reduce the deficit.
Five minutes later, Warrington scored to restore their two-goal lead and they then had a chance to go further ahead – but an unbelievable point-blank save from Jordan Roberts kept the score at 3-1.
The Malpas fightback began when Roy Cardus broke through the Warrington defence and netted after good work from 17-year-old Sadler.
After constant late pressure, the visitors earned their just rewards when Smith flicked on a cross and Steve Watkins got the final decisive touch to level the game.
Malpas boss Robbie McWilliams said: “What a game! In the end Warrington were hanging on.”
Malpas face Maine Road Reserves away tomorrow (3pm).
