TOP-OF-THE-TABLE Helsby continued their march to the Division Two title with a 3-1 away win at Capenhurst Villa, putting them eight points clear.

Gary Lunt and Mark O’Connor were on target and an own goal completed Helsby’s scoring. Lee Hammond was on target for Villa.

Struggling Blacon slumped to their 21st defeat after a tight clash at high-flying Poulton Victoria ended 1-0.

Only a Robbie Black goal separated the two sides. The defeat leaves Blacon rooted to the bottom with only six points.

Upton Athletic moved up to fourth spot with a 3-1 home win against Marine Reserves.

Simon Andrews (2) and Dave Roberts were on target for the home side while Rickie Arnold scored Marine’s consolation goal.

Heswall benefitted from an own goal and a Ged Anderson strike to defeat Christleton away.

Chester Nomads slumped to a 3-1 home loss at the hands of Mallaby. A Lee Owen strike restored some pride but goals from the visitors’ John Hewson (2) and Steve Abbott left Nomads reeling.

Willaston thumped Heswall Reserves 4-0 away leaving them three points clear in third thanks to Jimmy Hilditch, Lee Dunbar, James Clare and Mark Lui goals.

Christleton Reserves embarrassed bottom-of-the-table Blacon Reserves in Division Three, thrashing them 7-1. Matty Kilgannon (2), Andy Milne, Andy Crawford (2), Barry Lloyd and Graham Davidson did the damage. Mike Price snatched Blacon’s consolation strike.

Upton Reserves beat Runcorn Town Reserves 4-1 with a Nathan Freeman hat-trick and a Stuart Cossins goal.

St Werbughs hosted a 2-2 draw against Ashville Reserves. Rob Glover and Warren Kelly’s goals were cancelled out by shots from Ashville’s Peter Simons and Andy Kingam.
