THE Heath College struck when it mattered in a winner-takes-all game against hosts The Bankfield in the Halton Schools Football Tournament for Girls at Years 7&8.

The two schools were the only entrants and the Runcorn visitors ran out 1-0 victors at Widnes thanks to a sixth-minute goal in the match of 10 minutes one way.

The Bankfield gained some revenge as goals from Tasha Reybolds and Tara Stanley earned a 2-0 victory in a friendly which followed between the teams.

Simone Hands, sports co-ordinator at The Bankfield, organised the competition in conjunction with Halton Sports Development.

School football coach Chris Dearden was referee.

The Heath now go forward to represent the borough at the Merseyside Youth Games at Litherland Sports Park, Liverpool, on Friday, July 6.
