MOORE United's unbeaten away record in the Frontrunner Premier Division was broken at the weekend by Penlake.
Both sides tried hard to win the game and played good football. Pen-lake scored midway through the first half with a strike by Darrell Hale from the edge of the penalty area.
Current Champions Rainhill Town left it late to take the points against Vulcan.
In a tight first half both sides spurned chances, Vulcan hit the bar from 10 yards out and Pearson for Town blasting over when free in the box. In the first 20 minutes of the second half Rainhill had the better chances until Vulcan forced a great save from MhcDermott the Rainhill keeper.
With 20 minutes to go Rainhill made a double substitution which included bringing on Morris who snatched a late goal for a 1-0 victory.
Division Two Rainhill Town Reserves remained top despite being held at Orford BA. Conor Morris opened the scoring for Town and victory was denied by a Kayne James strike for Orford.
Grange SC fought back from two goals down at half-time to grab a 4-3 victory at Culcheth. Matt Bush grabbed a hat-trick and was backed up by a Paul Hall spot-kick.
A local derby took place in Division Three as Rainhill Town 3rds took on Whiston Cross 3rds. A double each from Lynch and Thompson was supported by Keary and McEgan who also bagged.
The Drinkwater Cup Quarterfinals were completed where Moore United Reserves shocked Division Three side Monk Sports Reserves with a 2-1 win. Kevin Barber opened the scoring for Monk only for Phil McKay to hit a 35-yard free kick which was added to by Paul Bennion late in the second half.
