RUNCORN returned from high-flying Guiseley with a welcome point after a battling Unibond League Premier Division performance.

The Linnets were indebted to an 81st-minute equaliser from the returning Mick Moore for a share of the spoils after the home side had taken a first-half lead.

The visitors were without David Ness, who has signed for Witton Albion, suspended Shaun Whalley and the injured Colin Flood with Moore returning to the midfield after a groin injury, which has restricted him to one previous appearance this season.

Ellis went close for the home team early on while the visitors had a penalty appeal waved away after Furlong appeared to be tripped in the area.

Guiseley took the lead on 27 minutes through Andy Lee, recently signed from Witton, who scored from a narrow angle. Runcorn pressed well after the interval, but it looked like all their endeavours would go unrewarded until a tidy passing movement on the edge of the box opened up the home defence.

Moore made the most of his opportunity with a 20-yard shot that beat the keeper's dive.
