FORMER Chester defender Rob Marsh-Evans has returned to the Motassist Arena after stricken Leigh Genesis gave him permission to seek another club.

Marsh-Evans impressed during a loan spell at Vauxhall Motors early last season and when Leigh began tearing up players’ contracts so they could move clubs Motors swooped. They captured the signatures of both centre-back Marsh-Evans and goalscoring midfielder Tom Field, who left Motors for Leigh in the summer, having developed a reputation for pulling Motors out of the fire with his goals.

“We had to move fast when Leigh started giving players permission to find other clubs last week,” said Motors boss Carl Macauley.

“We have just lost James Smith to Altrincham in the Blue Square Premier and needed a swift replacement.

“Rob fits the bill as he was looking for a position and last time he was here he did well.”

Macauley added: “We have tied him to a season-long contract and in the summer he will be a free agent.”
