FORMER Liverpool defender Djimi Traore has signed for Major League Soccer outfit Seattle Sounders.
The 32-year-old Frenchman had been without a club since parting company with Marseille last summer.
“Djimi has a great deal of experience and has played in the top leagues in Europe,” said Seattle sporting director Chris Henderson.
“He’s a very good defender and makes smart decisions with the ball coming out from the back. Djimi brings us confidence and leadership in the back.”
Traore made 141 appearances for Liverpool following his arrival from Laval in 1999.
The Champions League winner moved on to Charlton in 2006.
LIVERPOOL Under-21s face Manchester United in the Premier Academy League at St Helens’ Langtree Park tonight (7pm kick-off). Admission is £6 for adults and £3 for children.
