Having left Chester FC last week, Ross Hannah has a new club.

The 32-year-old striker parted company with the Blues earlier this month when he and Kingsley James, who both had another year to run on their deals at Chester, had their contracts cancelled by mutual consent.

But the former Grimsby Town and Bradford City frontman has penned a deal with ambitious Evo-Stik Premier side Gainsborough Trinity where he will link up with prolific ex-Altrincham forward Damien Reeves.

Hannah enjoyed a prolific first spell with the Blues during 2015/16, netting 22 times in the National League before making a move to Barrow.

After an unsuccessful season at Holker Street he returned on a two-year deal to Chester last summer.

But injury problems and a struggling Blues side saw him enjoy a less happy time in blue and white and, with the club needing to reduce costs towards the end of last season owing to their financial crisis, Hannah was loaned out to Southport.

He and James had been two of the club's highest earners and new Chester managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley made no secret of the fact that in order for the club to complete their summer recruitment they would have to move the pair on, but he praised their attitude after they returned to pre-season training.
