THE wet weather had a major impact on the weekend’s local fixture programme, with a host of games postponed due to waterlogged pitches.

One of the few West Cheshire League games to survive saw Christleton claim an impressive 2-0 win at Marine reserves, who are only four points off top spot in Division One.

A Seb Walker penalty and an own goal accounted for the visitors’ tally.

In Divsion Two, Capenhurst Villa lost 2-1 at Maghull Reserves while Willaston defeated Marshalls 4-1.

The games involving Malpas and Tarporley Victoria in the Cheshire League were washed out, while only two games went ahead in the Chester & District League.

In Football Bootique Division Two, Rangers Breaks (Dave Duffield, Luke Rippon, Lee Burns) drew 3-3 at home to Neston Nomads (Rob Marrs, Scott Benoch, Nick Stiles). In Link Up Division Three, Porky’s Pantry won 1-0 at Hooton Arms.

In the only Chester & District Sunday League game to be played, FC Hickory’s beat 10-man Red Door 4-0 in Abbey Taxis Section B. Andy Clarke, Jonny Lawrence and Daryl Taylor netted in the first half, with Lee Herring scoring the fourth goal.
