Vauxhall Motors 1Northwich Victoria 0
SURVIVAL is the target for Vauxhall Motors and they have made strides this week with two successive 1-0 wins against Hyde and Northwich Vics lifting them to third from bottom in Blue Square North.
While the teams below them, Harrogate and Gainsborough Trinity, have five and four games in hand respectively over the Motormen, it is winning that will keep teams in this division and Motors may be getting into the habit at just the right time.
Motors invited Chester City season ticket holders to attend Tuesday’s game at Rivacre Park for just £5 and were determined to frustrate play-off chasing Northwich.
Skipper Josh Wilson, who scored against Hyde on Saturday, was taken down in the box on 35 minutes against Vics and dead-ball specialist Brian Moogan lashed the ball home.
Now Motors boss Carl Macauley’s attention turns to Saturday when Motors travel to mid-table Corby.
They have been boosted by the loan signing of 20-year-old defender Rory Winters from League Two side Macclesfield Town.

Motors’ secretary Carole Paisey and her family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and support they have received since the death of her husband Brian, Motors’ long-serving kit manager, last week.
In a statement the family said: “The cards, messages and calls not only from people connected with football but past workmates and friends lost but not forgotten, are memories we will cherish forever.”
