Northwich Vics 0 Vauxhall Motors 0

CARL Macauley’s Motors picked up a point towards their survival bid at Northwich Vics but it may prove too little, too late for the Motormen this time.

They are four points off the survival pace in Blue Square North and the teams they are chasing all have games in hand over them.

Gloucester, the team directly above Motors, hold five games in hand over the Rivacre Park outfit as do Hyde, who lead Motors by six points.

Redditch and Gainsborough Trinity are also barely within Motors reach but have four games in hand.

With only five games to go, Vauxhall fate may now be out of their hands.

Their biggest blow came on Saturday when they dropped three valuable points in a 1-0 defeat away to Gloucester.

The home side went ahead on 22 minutes and Motors squandered a host of chances to draw level against their nearest relegation rival.

On one of Motors’ rare attacks Tranmere Rovers loanee Josh Macauley stretched to get on the end of a Lee Dames pass only to see his toe-poked effort trickle wide of keeper Mike Green’s upright.

And Chris Noone should have done better when Karl Noon’s quickly taken throw-in put him through for an equaliser, but he fired high and wide.

Motors have no game on Saturday.
