THE district football season kicks off this weekend when teams in the West Cheshire League and Cheshire League return to action.

Tarporley Victoria will start their first Division One season in the Cheshire League, having finished second in Division Two last season, earning the club promotion.

Malpas were rooted to the bottom of the division in 2009/10, and will hope to improve on their 11 point haul, and one solitary win.

Christleton, Blacon Youth Club and Upton AA will all be looking for a better showing in the West Cheshire League Division One after all three finished in the bottom half.

Blacon finished rock bottom, failing to record a single win in 30 games, managing only five draws all season, while Christleton and Upton finished 11th and 12th respectively.

Chester Nomads will look to rebound after last season’s heartbreak, finishing just one point adrift of leaders Southport Trinity in Division Two, ending the year in third place.
