AFTER successful careers in amateur league football, Saltney Veterans turned back the clock to complete a season double last week.

The side won both the Northern Cup and British Steel Vets Cup within days of each other.

This campaign has also seen the side – with an average age of 46 – reach the semi-finals of the Chester FA Cup.

Boss Peter Donnelly said the team would not let age stop them competing.

“While they still have the desire and the legs, they will keep playing,” he said. “I think the legs will go before the desire!”
