THE Chester and District League kicks off this weekend with a number of changes to several teams.

New entries to the Premier League are Kelma and Levers Athletic, while Highfield and Blacon Youth have linked up to become BYC Highfield.

Champions Kelsall will be looking to retain their league title.

Last-minute restructuring to Groves means they should begin the season this weekend as the rebranded Groves Sports and Social.

Division One will see Shaftsbury Youth and Peacock 09 renew their battles, having progressed up the divisions in the past two seasons.

Joining them as favourites for the title will be Halfway House and Raby Villa.

Orange Athletic Chester are the new name for Barrow, with two teams in Division One and Two.

The rest of Division Two is expected to see strong promotion challenges from Neston Nomads and a revitalised Lache, who have a presence in Division Three with Lache 2nds.

It is nearly all change in Division Three as only one team from that league last season – Chester Athletic – return.

League secretary Paul Graham said more teams may yet join the division after the Birkenhead and Wirral leagues folded.
