THE scourge of Airbus, Rhys Griffiths, struck again against the Wingmakers to rob them of two Welsh Premier points.

The Llanelli forward has scored an unbelievable 22 goals in 13 games against Airbus.

While his latest effort could not stop the Wingmakers re-entering the top six, it did ensure they did it only on goal difference.

After a strong start at Stebonheath Park, Airbus looked as if they would banish the Griffiths curse and got two points clear in the top six when Wrexham loanee Nick Rushton pounced in the fifth minute to open the scoring with his fourth goal for Airbus this season.

Andy Moran had a number of chances to increase the lead but the usually reliable hitman struggled to find his range.

And the Wingmakers were made to pay as, on 25 minutes, firefighter Griffiths came to the rescue of Llanelli with an equaliser forced home from close range after Airbus failed to clear their lines.

It was their final failure at the back, as Craig Harrison’s men tightened up and shut down the Reds’ options up front. But the damage had been done.

Saturday brings Carmarthen Town to the Airfield (2.30pm kick-off).

Airbus drew 1-1 at home to Newton last Wednesday, a match played after The Chronicle had gone to press.
