THERE was a big day of Chester and District FA Cup action on Saturday.

Blacon YC swept into round three courtesy of a 5-1 success over Lache. Lee McElmeel (2), Aden Shannon (2) and Ross Broadhurst were the Blacon scorers, with Joey Waters replying.

A solitary strike by Sean Johnson was enough for Christleton as they returned from Chester Celtic with a 1-0 victory in the bag.

Joining them in round three are Upton AA, 3-0 winners away to Peacock 09. The West Cheshire League outfit progressed thanks to goals by Simon Andrews (2) and Vidal Spaine.

Uberlube bowed out with a 3-1 home loss to Crossway, Mike Sawrey netted for the hosts.

Cheshire League outfit Malpas triumphed 3-1 at home to Chester Athletic, of the Chester League.

The visitors shocked Malpas by going 1-0 up.

They also hit the woodwork soon after, but Malpas bounced back with three unanswered goals in the second half.

On 61 minutes, Steve Watkiss headed home from a corner. Two minutes later, Dominic O’Keeffe made it 2-1 with a close-range shot.

The scoring was completed when Andy Morris netted 20 minutes from time.

Striker Danny Lloyd returns for this weekend’s league match at Poynton.

Elton Rigger lost 2-0 at home to Farnworth Town Reserves in round two of the Northern Cup.
