GIANT-KILLERS Highfield Athletic added another impressive scalp to their collection in the final of the Chester FA Cup.

Christleton’s Little Heath ground was the scene of their shock 3-0 victory over West Cheshire League Division Three opponents Blacon YC Reserves.

After seeing off Upton AA in the semi-final, Highfield were full of confidence, but it was still a surprise when Chris Larson’s hat-trick performance secured the trophy for them on Friday.

On Saturday the Cayzer Shield final took place between Pensby and Manor Athletic.

After extra time it was 2-2 thanks to goals from Manor’s Eddy Atkins and Wayne Hulse but Pensby won the penalty shootout 4-2.

In the Queensferry Sports Premier Division, Tarvin Athletic were relegated after a 4-3 loss at home to Sutton Way Villa. Dave Bulger, John Winter and Ian Smith all scored as Tarvin fought for their lives.

But Tarvin’s defensive frailties undermined them again, James Keelan (2) Nathan Eccles and Anthony Beddow all scoring for Villa.

Kelsall claimed all three points from hosts City Bar, Paul Head pulling one back in a 3-1 loss for City, but they stay up thanks to a better goal difference than Tarvin.

Helsby are still not assured of the second promotion spot from Olympic Trophies Division One after completing their season with a 2-1 defeat at Duddon United. Darren Ronald and Lee Gerado inflicted the loss and Helsby now need Parkgate to lose or draw two of their three games in hand to go up.

Parkgate were in excellent form against visiting Chester Nomads 3rds, winning 8-2, a John Roberts double saving relegated Nomads’ blushes.

Promoted Bebington Athletic Reserves edged a 2-1 victory over Saughall Thursday, Matthew Russell on target for Saughall.

In Reckless Media Divison Two, Chester Nomads 4ths are still in the hunt for a promotion place after defeating Hoole Rangers Reserves 5-0, Rob Balance (2), Vernon Keep, Terry Ellams and Tony Ellams scoring.

Vicars Cross Doves’ survival battle at the other end of the table took a bad turn as they lost 2-1 despite a goal from Danny Eaton.
