AIRBUS UK Broughton boss Andy Preece is wary of the threat Newtown could pose to his team at the Airfield tomorrow (7.30pm).

The Wingmakers swept to a 7-1 success when the sides met at Latham Park in September, making them hot favourites for the return clash.

But Preece, whose side enjoyed a 5-0 home victory over Port Talbot Town in the Welsh Premier League last Saturday, says the struggling Robins will be given the utmost respect.

“They are a good side and they’ve had some really good results this year,” he said. “They’ve beaten Bangor and won 3-0 away at Llanelli, so we know we’re in for a tough game.

“There are a lot of good sides in the league this year. I don’t think it’s ever been like this. But I think we’ve been very consistent and I can’t really think of any games when we’ve played really poorly. Another win against Newtown would really consolidate our position in the top six.”

Airbus moved up to fourth after Saturday’s win over Port Talbot, putting them back on track after two successive defeats.

The difference in class between the sides soon told after Wayne Riley’s strike from the edge of the box broke the Steelmen’s resistance on 28 minutes.

The dangerous Riley then created the Wingmakers' second goal 12 minutes later, his clever flick setting Jordan Johnson free inside the area for the winger to calmly roll the ball inside the near post.

Any lingering hopes the visitors had of salvaging anything from a rain-soaked encounter were washed away altogether when Mike Hayes found room to fire home a left-footed shot two minutes after the re-start.

Hapless Port Talbot must have feared a deluge when Riley's well-taken second made it 4-0 after 53 minutes, but the Wingmakers eased up after Steve Abbott’s classy finish 11 minutes later.
