AIRBUS UK Broughton have handed extended contracts to eight members of the squad that finished runners-up in last season’s Welsh Premier League.

Ian Kearney, Steve Abbott, Chris Budrys, Jordan Johnson, Sam Hart, Mike Ruddy, Glenn Rule and Lewis Short have all agreed fresh terms with the Europa League qualifiers.

News of the new deals came hot on the heels of a double capture by Airbus boss Andy Preece.

Preece has signed Wales Under 23s semi-professional defender Michael Pearson and convinced midfielder Nicky Ward to turn his back on a proposed move to Conwy Borough following his release from Newtown.

Bangor-born Pearson, 25, rejected an offer of a new contract at Barrow to join the Wingmakers, who will discover their Europa League opponents when the draw is made on Monday week (June 24).

“Mike is a young, quality and proven centre-back in the Conference and won Barrow’s players’ player of the year award last season,” said Preece.

Loanees Jamie Stephens and Steve Tomassen have returned to their parent clubs while Jason Jarrett, Toby Jones and Mike Hayes have left.
